Presence in the Strait

Accidental. Four records: one bird at Port of Algeciras in June ‘87, another in Ceuta on 12.09.75, and one on July 2001 in La Línea. A bird observed from August to November 2009 in Tarifa.

Identification

Like a Rock Bunting but smaller, lacking black lateral crown-stripes. Streaked throat and crown, plain red-brown back and yellowish lower mandible. Females have duller colours. They breed in Morocco.
