Presence in the Strait
Scarce resident of hilly areas with scrub and grassland.
Identification
The size of a House Sparrow, long tail with white outer tail feathers. Males have ash-grey head and throat, with black lateral crown-stripes, eye-stripes and border to ear-coverts. Females and juveniles are duller than males. Highly terrestrial making their typical, high-pitched call “tsii”.
Movements
Sedentary with altitudinal movements. Peaks in 1st hf. March and 1st hf. October.
