Common winter visitor to areas of dense scrub, possibly with a wider distribution but not detected due to its shyness.
Identification
The size of a sparrow, with a thin bill, brown upperparts with black streaking and slate-grey breast and head. Dark streaks on flanks; brown-streaked crown and ear coverts. Red-brown legs and brown tail.
Movements
Postnuptial migration is far more conspicuous with peaks in 1st hf. November; prenuptial migration is less apparent, between February and March.
