Presence in the Strait
Abundant but very localised resident. Introduced into the Almoraima and Las Lomas estates. Nowadays, only appears in numbers at the latter, where it is artificially bred and raised. Several sub-species exist.
Identification
Unmistakable because of its shape, colour and long tail. Males more spectacular. When taking off, wings produce a loud buzzing sound.
