Presence in the Strait
Abundant summer visitor to woodlands and scrub.
Identification
Warm brown upperparts with long tail and reddishbrown rump. Long, pinkish legs. Juveniles are spotted buff above and brownish below. They show site fidelity to both breeding and wintering grounds. Melodious song, also at night.
Movements
Postnuptial migration is less conspicuous and more prolonged, for as they finish breeding they start to return to Africa. Peaks in 2nd hf. April and 2nd hf. August.
