Presence in the Strait
Abundant resident of inhabited areas.
Identification
Small; brownish above, with a stout bill, lead-grey crown and dusky-grey ear-coverts with black loralstripe. Males in summer show a black bill and bib; in winter, bib reduced and brownish bill. Females and juveniles are similar, looking drab with buffish supercilium.
Movements
Sedentary with post-breeding dispersal concerning birds that cross over to Morocco, especially between September and November, with peaks in 2nd hf. October. The spring return trip is rather late, with peaks towards the end of April and May.
