Presence in the Strait

Accidental. One female on 28.01.89 in La Janda area.

Identification

Medium-sized duck with peaked crown and yellow iris. In winter males have a smaller white patch at the base of the bill and similar plumage to females. Juveniles are like females but with duller head, a brownish iris and lack white collar. They breed in Scandanavia.
