Presence in the Strait
Occasional. Records of twelve birds in the months of March (2), April (2), July (1), October (1), November (4) and December (2).
Identification
Unmistakable. In flight, white rump, black tail, grey back and black wings with white wing-bars. Juveniles are like females but without the black cap and with a buff wing-bar. They breed in the N of Europe.
Ring recoveries
One juvenile female ringed at Almonte (Huelva) on 20.10.95 was controlled at Punta Carnero (Algeciras), 157 Km. away, on 2.07.96, a strange date for this species in this territory.
