Presence in the Strait

Resident to coastal wetlands and La Janda, more abundant during migration and winter.

Identification

Appear brownish black, but close up, dark purple-brown with green gloss on wings. In winter, appears duller and it has white streaking on head and neck. Juveniles are much duller.

Movements

Sightings usually refer to single birds or pairs, in January and February, and from June to October, with peaks in February and September (62%). Morito Común
