Presence in the Strait

Rare resident in rocky areas. They were well distributed throughout the territory in the first half of the 20th Century, although they have always been rare, suffering a severe decline in numbers since the ‘50s.

Identification

Males are black with white rump and ventral area. Females are similar but sooty brown instead of black. In flight, white rump and tail pattern as for other wheatears.

Movements
