Presence in the Strait

Common resident of rocky areas.

Identification

Males are blue-grey although they look black from a distance. Females are dark-brown with paler underparts scaled with brown. Juveniles are like females but more heavily spotted and scaled. Blackish legs and bill.

Movements

Sedentary with short-distance post-breeding dispersal, with peaks in 1st hf. March and 1st hf. October.
