Presence in the Strait

Scarce resident. More regular in Ceuta where it breeds since 2004. Rarer on the other side of the Strait, with records of breeding (2 pair) from year 2009.

Identification

White to orange-white tail and dark carpal patches. Larger than a Buzzard, paler above, more rufous underparts and longer wings. It breeds in N Africa and records relate to the subspecies B. r. cirtensis.
