Its presence in the area may be regular, as its similarity to a Common Waxbill may have caused confusion, masking many observations. One group at the River Guadiaro estuary on 10.09.85, of which one bird was ringed.
Identification
Small, plain brown body, coral red bill and eye stripe. Black tail, white outer tail feather margins and also white vent. Juveniles are greyish, without eye stripe and have a dark-coloured bill. They originate from Africa, from Guinea to Ethiopia.
