Accidental. Three records of single birds: on Gibraltar on 7.03.84, at Aciscar (Tarifa) on 21.04.85, and one female ringed at Ceuta on 11.11.92.
Identification
Like a Cirl Bunting but with a plain red-brown rump. In summer plumage, males have yellow heads and underparts and streaked, warm brown backs. In winter, heads show less yellow and their breasts are more streaked. Females are like those of a Cirl Bunting but the eye-stripes and ear-coverts are less distinct, and a red-brown rump.
