Abundant resident in dense vegetation close to water.

Identification

No striking features. Warm red-brown above with greyish underparts, and rusty tinge on flanks, belly and undertail coverts. Pale supercilium and broad, rounded tail, often cocked. Difficult to see due to its retiring habits but easy to locate by its explosive Sylviidae Carricero Común Carricero Tordal Cetia Ruiseñor song.

Déplacements

Sedentary, although ringing results (see graph) reveal variations in numbers throughout the year which imply local movements, with peaks in March and October.
